July 2025: Happy Summer!

Dr. Johnson and Dr. Agarwal enjoyed a “peak experience” with other like minded physicians and scientists earlier this summer at the inaugural Cannes Longevity Docs Summit.

Here are Dr. Agarwal's reflections from the Cannes Longevity Summit:

What happens when the "Longevity Docs" network of physicians and scientists descend on the French Riveria? A PEAK experience, powered by purpose. A new model is emerging- one built not on the length of life , but the depth of health. Lifetime value isn't just a business metric anymore. It is the return of of our daily habits, our cellular resilience and our capacity to recover. As Dr Eric Verdin, president of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, reminded us: "Aging is now considered a modifiable risk factor."

Somewhere between cellular medicine, AI and entrepreneurial grit, we are not just extending life - we are upgrading how it is lived.

As Naveen Jain, founder of Viome. said: "Don't look at the world as it is today, but what it can be."

Because if aging is a stigma, longevity is an aspiration. And in Cannes, we weren't just talking about it- we were building it. The future isn't someday. The future is now.

Summer is in full swing, and I’ve been reflecting with so much gratitude on this beautiful season, both in my practice and in my personal life.

Our Hinsdale location is beginning to blossom, and I couldn't be more thrilled to see the space come to life. It’s been such a joy to welcome you there and hear how much you’re enjoying the serene environment. Your feedback has been incredibly affirming, and it continues to shape how we deliver care with both warmth and precision.

On the home front, my girls are fully immersed in summer camp, soaking in the sunshine and creating the kind of memories that make this season so magical. It’s been a hot one, but also deeply fulfilling. I’ve cherished the mix of meaningful moments with patients, the laughter of my daughters, and time with friends who feel like family.

I’m carving out a little time soon to head to Michigan to visit my parents, and after that, we’re wrapping up summer with a trip to Mexico. It’s my way of pressing pause before fall routines kick back in.

Thanks for being part of this journey with me. Whether we’ve worked together recently or it’s been a while, I’m always here for you.

As Dr. Agarwal noted, “The New Gods of Medicine” was the theme of the conference and I confess that I initially worried that  this messaging “Gods of..” lacked the humility that differentiates this incredible group of “longevity” physicians from the “experts” of academic and conventional sick care medicine.

After this experience, I appreciate that audacious authority is indeed required to break our sick care system. “The New Gods of Medicine”  assembled in the spirit of Hippocrates and Socrates, to offer wisdom and guidance in this “moment of  MAHA” while growing a collective family of physicians, scientists and innovators who share great OPTIMISM for practicing the ART of longevity medicine, as Hippocrates intended.

A picture of Dr. Agarwal and Dr. Johnson taken at the Carlton Cannes, with our friends & colleagues Dr. Eric Verdin, Dr. Tamsin Lewis, founder of Wellgevity, and Dr. Jack Kreindler, founder of Wellfounded.

Here are just a few notable quotes and highlights (more to come!):

From Dr Eric Verdin, CEO of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging:

“Aging is a modifiable risk factor for chronic disease. Aging is 7% Genetics 7%, 93% modifiable”

“P4 medicine is the future with these four Pillars: Predictive, Personalized, Personalized and Participatory”  (We’d add a fifth P: Precision)

“Today we have no drugs or supplements that target aging specifically, it’s ok to experiment but understand that the data for meds/supplements doesn’t yet exist…”

Verdin expects living to 95 without disease is achievable

“Timing of intervention requires targeted therapy at the right time, example: PCSk9 therapeutics (Repatha, Praluent) best given early as prevention.”

“Within 10-15 years, our patients will have digital twins.”

“An Empowered patient is at the center of care.”

“Embrace the patient who seeks health support with digital platforms, AI tools will augment and offer top ten percentile of physician expertise.”

From Naveen Jain, CEO of Viome who states he is aged 66 but biologically, his age is 33.

“What can I do to improve someone’s life today? Don’t ask how can I make a billion dollar company? Ask yourself how can you help a billion people’s lives?”

“With at home testing and AI interpretation = we can cohort and triage data from home testing and create digital avator of ourselves to scale access to our  information.”

“Seeing one patient at a time is not a business, it’s a hobby.”

Naveen Jain collected hundred of millions of samples of human information, he claims that his company hopes to detect stage one pancreatic and oral cancer with lab biomarkers, then scan with AI interpretation imaging, then match patients with physician specialists via telehealth.

“Don’t look at the world as it it but what it can be. “

Dr Elizabeth Yurth spoke on her “Phoenix protocol” which highlights healthy mitochondrial biogenesis (our body makes new mitochondria every 10-21 days) by using tools of calorie restriction (CR):

Medications that mimic CR (Metformin, Rapamycin, GLP1/GIP therapies)FastingSupplements such as CoQ and magnesium

“ Next level therapies : quantum biology using light, sound, nature as these modalities offer mitochondrial support”

From L’Oreal’s Chief Innovation Officer, Vania LaCascade:

“Your skin is your lifetime envelope”

“Beauty has no expiration date but old ideas do”

“Skin is the mirror to the body’s health”

She mentioned the “Anti verse,” a metaverse for women in which:

“Beauty is an aspiration and

Aging is a stigma…”

“Beauty is not vanity, it is vitality.”

From Dr Pradeep Albert:

“Exosomes are the single greatest anti inflammatory I’ve ever seen “

From Dr Dobri Kiprov “We have proven that we can impact all pathways of aging with Therapeutic Plasma Exchange.”

From Dr Darshan Shah:

“There should be 10x the amount of health clinics vs sick clinics.”
